Hawks Finish 7th at SCAD Invitational
SAVANNAH, GA- The Chowan University women's swim team completed action at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks earned a seventh place finish in a competitive 14-team field. Chowan compiled 136 points over the course of three-days. Wingate University took home first place honors with 1,273 points.
Chowan opened the day with preliminary action and concluded the evening with finals. Scores and times noted below reflect performance in Saturday's finals. Complete results can be found HERE.
In the 100 yard freestyle, Kenya McCray picked up a 10th place finish with a time of 53.86. Julia Chmielewska recorded an eighth place finish in the 200 yard backstroke. She touched the wall at the 2:13.84 mark and earned 11 points for the Hawks. SheAyre Bowles notched an 18th place finish in the 100 yard freestyle after finishing the event in 54.89. Sarah Hull posted a 20th place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke. She completed the event at the 2:55.33 mark.
Keitra Lloyd competed in the 200 yard butterfly on Saturday. She finished in 18th place with a time of 2:23.69. In the 400 yard freestyle, Chowan's Lloyd, Bowles, Chmielewska and McCray picked up a 10th place finish. The squad completed the event in 3:44.77.
McCray and Bowles grabbed first and second place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle, respectively. McCray posted a winning time of 24.98 followed by Bowles at the 25.50 mark.
The Hawks return to action on January 13th when Chowan plays host to Barton College and St. Andrews University in the Bynum Brown Aquatic Center. Start time is slated for 1pm.
