Casagrande Joins Men’s Lacrosse Coaching Staff
MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University athletic department along with Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Jim Griffin announced the addition of Bruce Casagrande to the coaching staff. Casagrande will serve as Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach.
Griffin noted, "Bruce is hands-down one of the most experienced, knowledgeable, and smartest minds in the game of lacrosse. His background includes experience at the Division I level as well as a National Championship at the Division II level. His addition to our staff will build this program towards great success in the future".
Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at the University of Denver, Director of US Lacrosse and Hall of Famer, Bill Tierney added, "Bruce was always a great innovator on the field. Our career paths have often crossed, but most interestingly, we have both been the head lacrosse coach at the University of Denver. Bruce is a man who the players will respect and enjoy playing for. He has a passion for the sport and will help Chowan achieve great things on the field".
Casagrande began his coaching career as Head Coach at the University of Vermont and with the professional lacrosse program Montreal Quebecois. He went on to serve as Assistant Coach at Towson University before taking the reins of the both the men's lacrosse program and women's basketball program at the University of Denver. After serving a brief stint as Head Coach at Stony Brook University, Casagrande spent nine seasons as Assistant Head Lacrosse Coach at New York Institute of Technology from 1997-2006.
Casagrande also developed business experience through his role of President at National Auto Brokers and Auto Emporium in Amityville, New York. At Auto Emporium, Casagrande owned and managed every aspect of the dealership and was responsible for eight million dollars in business annually.
He earned a B.S. From Suny Cortland in Physical Education/Health and also obtained a M.S. in Health Education in 1975. Casagrande also graduated from the doctoral program at the University of Denver.
The Amityville, New York native resides in Murfreesboro.
