CHARLOTTE, NC- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in conjunction with the Volleyball Coaches Association and the Sports Information Directors Association announced the CIAA Volleyball Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.  Chowan University's Suraya Chase was tabbed CIAA Player of the Week. 

Chase, a native of Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago tallied 23 kills for the Hawks as Chowan posted a 1-1 record this week. Her top performance was a 20 kill outing in a 3-2 victory over Claflin.  She also recorded 18 digs in the victory.  She leads the Hawks with 341 kills on the season and has notched 243 digs. 

Chowan posts a 20-9 overall record on the year and stands 13-2 in CIAA play.  The Hawks conclude the regular season on Friday with a 6pm contest against Virginia Union University.
