Dinkins Joins CU Athletic Staff
MURFREESBORO – Chowan University's Vice President for Athletics, Ozzie McFarland, announced the hiring of Charlotte Dinkins as Internal Operations Assistant this week. Dinkins, a native of New York City, joined the Hawks' administrative staff after last working at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
"We are excited to add Charlotte to our athletic administrative team here at Chowan," stated McFarland. "We look forward to seeing her progress in the field of athletic administration and to help us promote our growing athletic department."
Dinkins earned her B.S. from Lincoln University (PA), a member of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, in May of 2012 in Health Science. While at Lincoln Dinkins was a four-year member and captain of the women's cross country team and the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Team. In her senior year at Lincoln Dinkins assisted both the Lincoln Director of Compliance and Director of Operations with day-to-day tasks within the department.
Following graduation from Lincoln, Dinkins served as a Youth Series Running Coach for the New York Road Runners Club in her hometown of New York City in 2013. Dinkins went on to earn her M.S. in Sport Management from Northern Illinois University in 2014. While at Northern Illinois Dinkins worked as a game day operations assistant intern. She assisted in all aspects of the department's game day operations for sixteen varsity athletic programs.
As part of the NCAA's Strategic Alliance Matching Grant program, in January of 2015 Dinkins was hired at Cedar Crest College as an Assistant to the Athletic Director. During her 18 months at Cedar Crest Dinkins oversaw game day operations for nine varsity sports. She also oversaw athletics work study and served as an advisor to the Cedar Crest College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
"I am extremely excited to be a part of the Chowan University staff," said Dinkins on the position. "It has always been my goal to bring out the best student-athlete experiences as an administrator. Having this opportunity to work with individuals that strive to reach the same aspiration is enlightening. I look forward to new challenges and embracing new change to continue to make the CU Athletic Department and University remarkable."
Dinkins is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and resides in Murfreesboro.
