Hawks Dominate Bruins
Box Score MURFRESSBORO, NC- The Chowan University men's soccer earned a commanding 6-0 win over Bob Jones University Bruins on Saturday afternoon. The Bruins slip to a 4-9 record this season, while the Hawks pick up their second straight win and post to a 6-4-1 record.
Chowan totaled 24 shots during the game with 16 occurring in the first half. Lee Wattam and Ben Chapman both recorded a team-high four shots in the win. Denis Roule andJeremy Brooker contributed three shots apiece for the Hawks. Eleven different Chowan players recorded shots over the course of the contest.
Bob Jones was held to three shots in the game.
Andrew Kester recorded seven saves for the Bruins in the loss while Carlos Ramirez recorded two saves for Chowan in the shutout win.
The Hawks got on the board in the 28th minute of play with a goal by Wattam. Less than two minutes later, Chapman found the back of the net, giving Chowan a 2-0 lead. Paul Migliarina was credited with both assists.
Roule extended the Chowan lead with an unassisted goal two minutes before the half time break. Chowan continued to build on the momentum in the second half. After a Chowan throw-in, Swann Vincent beat Bob Jones' last defender and connected with Migliarina at the top of the box. Migliarina scored on the play, pushing the Hawks ahead 4-0.
In the 70th minute, a goal by Terell Williamson extended Chowan's advantage 5-0. Migliarina was credited with the assist; his third of the day.
With less than a minute remaining in the contest, Jordan Young solidified the 6-0 win for the Hawks with a goal, using an assist by Roule.
The Hawks return to action on October 17th as Chowan travels to the University of Mount Olive. Game time is slated for 5pm.
