Hawks Shutout Emmanuel, Earn First Win of Season

Sep 5, 2016 by Staff Reports

Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's soccer program picked up their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon after defeating Emmanuel College 2-0.  The Hawks even their record to 1-1 after the win in their home-opener while the Lions look to recover from a 0-1 start to the 2016 season.

Terell Williamson found the back of the net with a shot out of the keeper's reach in the 35th minute of play, giving Chowan a 1-0 lead.  Jordan Radisavljevic was credited with the assist on the play.

After heading into halftime with narrow advantage, Paul Migliarini extended Chowan's lead  in the 65th minute using an assist from Williamson.  The late goal was all the Hawks would need to secure the victory.

Chowan recorded 19 shots over the course of the contest, with five on goal.  Radisavljevic and Lee Wattam each notched four shots apiece with Williamson tallying a team-high five shots in the win.  Carlos Ramirez recorded two saves in goal for Chowan en-route to the shutout win.

Emmanuel accounted for seven shots over 90 minutes of play with Nick Miller and Craig Russell tallying two shots each.

The Hawks return to action on September 7th as the Hawks travel to take on Coker College.  Game time is slated for 5:00pm.
