Hawks Make Impact at Campus Stop Hunger Now Event
MURFREESBORO- Student-athletes from seven Chowan University athletic teams took time away from the court or practice field to participate in Chowan's annual Stop Hunger Now meal-packaging event held in the Jenkins Center on Thursday. Representatives from the Hawks' men's basketball, women's basketball, bowling, men's cross country, women's cross country, football, and softball team were on-hand to contribute to a local and global effort to fight hunger.
The student-athletes assisted with various tasks including set-up and breakdown, and also contributed to several different packaging stations over the course of the evening.
Stop Hunger Now distributes meals through feeding programs operated by partner organizations in developing countries that promote education, encourage children to attend school, improve students' health and nutrition, address gender inequalities, stimulate economic growth, fight child labor, and are part of the movement to address global issues. The organization has been in existence since 1998. Click HERE to read more about Stop Hunger Now.
