Art Exhibition Merges the Past and Future of Young Women in Rural NC
MURFREESBORO, NC – Leeta Harding’s artistic approach to merging the past and the future will be showcased in the Chowan University Green Hall Art Gallery from Thursday, September 1st at 5 pm to Thursday, September 29th. The exhibition is entitled The Past and Future Merge: Portraits of Young Women from Rural North Carolina.
Harding’s photographic work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States and Europe; a cover photographer and interviewer for Index Magazine from 1997-2006, she’s also contributed to Harper’s Bazaar, Vice Magazine, and New York Magazine. “We all have stories to tell,” Harding says. “I want people to identify with my photographs in a way that’s personal. The women I photograph let me into their lives, so I’m letting the viewer into the stories we create.”
The opening reception will be September 1st from 5 pm to 7 pm with light refreshments. Bach on Cello will be performed by James M. Guthrie, DMA, Associate Professor of Music; Director of Orchestra; Music Industry Coordinator during the reception. Join Chowan as they share the stories of young women from rural NC through Harding’s work.
