Finalists Announced for the Faculty Advisor of the Year Award

The Chowan University Faculty Advisor of the Year Award is given each year to recognize excellence in academic advising. All students, faculty, and staff were invited to nominate an academic advisor. The finalists for the 2015-2016 Faculty Advisor of the Year Award are:
- James Hammond, Assistant Professor of Physical Education
- Lewis Nicholson, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice
- Edward Snyder, Assistant Professor of History
- Patsy Taylor, Associate Professor of Marketing
- Jayne Wolfskill, Assistant Professor of Education
Selection is based on the following criteria:
- availability to advisees;
- approachability;
- monitoring of student;
- progress toward academic and career goals;
- knowledge of institutional regulations, policies;
- and procedures; and
- ability to make appropriate referrals.
Past recipients of the award include:
- Jayne Wolfskill, Assistant Professor of Education (2009)
- Shannon Williams, Assistant Professor of Accounting (2010)
- Gladys DeJesus, Distinguished Professor Economics (2011)
- Jennifer Place, Associate Professor of Psychology (2012)
- John Dilustro, Associate Professor of Biology (2013)
- Carolyn Modlin, Professor of Education (2014)
- Tom Collins, Associate Professor of Sport Management (2015)
The winner of the award will be announced during the Awards Day Convocation on Wednesday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. in Turner Auditorium.
