Chowan Hosts Meherrin Chamber Orchestra
Chowan’s Associate Professor of Music, Dr. James M. Guthrie will direct the Meherrin Chamber Orchestra in concert on April 14th at 7:30 pm in the newly renovated Briley Recital Hall, located in Music’s Daniel Hall on the Chowan University campus.
Founded in 2000, the Meherrin Chamber Orchestra is made up of Chowan University students and local community members. This year’s performance will feature symphonies and serenades by the soldier-king of Prussia Frederick the Great, as well as works by Giuseppe Torelli, Alexander Glazunov, Robert Volkmann, and Giuseppe Tartini.
Chowan University's Department of Music is proud to offer concerts of this caliber, and is very grateful to The Friends of the Chowan University Department of Music for its gracious support. All people who love music and acknowledge its importance in our society are eligible for membership in the Friends of Music at Chowan.
This concert is open to the public. Doors will open at 7:00 pm.
