Buchanan and Cooper Earn CIAA Weekly Honors

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) released the Coca-Cola Softball Weekly Report #9 on Monday afternoon. Chowan picked up CIAA Pitcher of the Week and Co-Offensive Player of the week.

Shannon Buchanan picked up CIAA Pitcher of the Week after a 2-0 weekend.  Buchanan picked up her first career no-hitter against Bowie State with the complete game victory.  Buchanan tossed eight shutout innings this weekend allowing one unearned run and striking out 12.

Haley Cooper picked up Co-Offensive Player of the Week leading the Hawks to a 4-0 record this weekend.  Cooper went 6-14 at the plate with a grand slam, a double and six RBI.

The Hawks picked up their fifth straight CIAA Northern Division title with a 10-0 divisional mark.  Chowan will face the fourth-seed in the Southern Division in the opening round of the CIAA Softball Championships held at Moyer Park in Salem, Va. at the end of the month.
