In the summer of 2023, the Board of Trustees took a bold step in approving Chowan’s new vision. As a life skills university, we’re empowering students for success with a whole new approach to the academic experience.
Below are two projects that directly support this new vision – A Life Skills Mall and Science Facilities Renovations.

Mall
The Hawks Nest Student Center will feature “Storefronts” designed as a Life Skills Mall, comprising five distinct
areas:
- “The Anchor” Christian Ministries: Dedicated to spiritual growth and community involvement.
- “The Hub” Leadership Office: Nurturing extracurricular and leadership development.
- “Fit for Life” Fitness and Wellness: Promoting a healthy lifestyle.
- “Tech Savvy” Technology Store: Fostering technological knowledge and innovation.
- “The Pro Shop” Job Placement and Career Development: Empowering students for future success in the workforce.
The complete renovation also includes a stage, food court, and game room.

This ambitious $1.55 million project aims to revamp our science facilities, ensuring that our students have access to state-of-the-
