Chowan University Welcomes Harri Lovett as Director of Business and Industry Partnerships
Chowan University is pleased to announce the appointment of Harri Lovett as the Director of Business and Industry Partnerships. Lovett, a recent graduate of Chowan University, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for fostering connections between the university and the business community. His work will play an integral part in the University’s new emphasis on equipping Chowan students with the life skills they will need to succeed in the workplace. Specifically, Lovett will work with business and industry partners to create internships, job shadowing opportunities, and mentorships.
“I am extremely excited to connect with fellow alumni, friends of the University, and business leaders who can utilize our students within their professional networks,” Lovett expressed fondly.
Originally from Wrexham, Wales, Lovett was drawn to Chowan University to pursue his passion for soccer. Over the course of his time at Chowan, he has been an integral part of the Men’s Soccer program under the guidance of Head Coach Christopher Whalley. Lovett’s dedication and pride in the team have been evident, and he is thrilled to see the program’s success, scoring two team conference championships. Lovett, himself, is a three-time All-American.
Having completed a Bachelor of Arts in Business Degree, a Master’s in Organizational Leadership, and two internships in the University’s Office of Development, Lovett is well-equipped to take on his new role. Undoubtedly, Lovett will prove to be an invaluable asset to the university’s students as they pursue internships locally while finishing their undergraduate degrees. Working closely with Dr. Alan Scott, Chowan University’s Director of Career and Professional Development, the university will work to ensure that graduates are well-prepared to enter the workforce with the necessary skills to succeed.
“I have experienced first-hand how life-changing this institution can be,” added Lovett. “All aspects of this community have helped me grow into the position I find myself in today, and I am bursting with pride to be able to represent Chowan as we navigate this exciting transition into a Life Skills University.”
Lovett’s appointment marks an exciting chapter in Chowan’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with the business community. We are excited and proud to see the work that Lovett will accomplish in this role to benefit students as they transition from Chowan to their careers.
