“Christmas at Chowan” Dates Set for November
This week, the University announced that the Department of Music plans to hold its annual Christmas at Chowan program. The seasonal event is a community favorite as it celebrates the birth of Christ and rings in the holidays in the holidays with the Chowan Winds and the beautiful voices of the Chowan Singers, with narration by President and Mrs. Peterson.
To accommodate a socially distanced crowd and CDC guidelines, the vocal and instrumental performance will be held on two separate occasions – Saturday, November 21, and Sunday, November 22 at 3:30 pm. The event will take place on the festive McDowell Columns portico and surrounding lawns. The half-hour event is free and open to the public. Attendees are only asked to consider bringing unwrapped gifts that will be donated to Smart Start Partnership for Children, Inc. to be distributed to families in Hertford County. Guests may park in the Thomas Dining Hall or McDowell Columns lots and can expect to be helped to their seats by event ushers. Chowan’s hope is that as we prepare for the holiday season amid a global pandemic, we will remember to safely celebrate the birth of our Savior.
