Chowan Announces No Tuition Increase for 2021-2022

Oct 15, 2020 by Staff Reports

Chowan University continues to take steps to support its students during the coronavirus pandemic. On Thursday, October 8, 2020, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved a tuition and fee proposal that does not increase undergraduate tuition for the 2021-2022 school year. This decision follows Chowan’s historical pattern of having a notably low percent increase in tuition. In fact, the University has maintained one of the lowest percentage increases in tuition among the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) institutions for a number of years.

In addition to this newest tuition schedule, the University onboarded a new program earlier in the year to allow for recursive payments for student’s tuition payment programs. With the coronavirus pandemic having substantially increased the unemployment rate and complicating daily life considerably, the Board of Trustees compassionately approved a proposal that would enable more students to begin or continue their pursuit of higher education as a Hawk. President Dr. Kirk E. Peterson adds, “in a time where many of our new and returning students are experiencing challenges amid the pandemic, Chowan University is making a concerted effort to maintain its commitment to provide students an accessible, quality Christian higher education.”
