Daniel O. Wilson appointed Vice President for Enrollment Management
Daniel Wilson of Winterville, NC, joins Chowan University as Vice President for Enrollment Management replacing Kim Bailey who has transitioned to oversee University marketing. He began his new role on April 6, 2020, following the approval of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Wilson stated, “I am truly blessed to be chosen as the new Vice President for Enrollment Management at CU. I know I will have some big shoes to fill as my predecessor, Kim Bailey, has done wonderful things in this role. However, I am looking forward to the challenge and am confident that with God on my side, and with an awesome team on the other side, we will work together to meet all of the goals that are set before us. With God, all things are possible.”
Wilson brings with him more than a decade of experience in higher education. Most recently, he served as Dean of Enrollment Services at Nash Community College where he developed the college’s first strategic enrollment plan, doubled the graduation rate, and repeatedly increased enrollments. Before that, he served as an Academic Advisor at East Carolina University, Director of Admissions and Recruitment at Beaufort Community College, Assistant Director of Admissions at The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham, and Admissions Counselor at Louisburg College. Wilson also has several years of collegiate teaching experience under his belt. He graduated with an associate’s degree from Louisburg College, then earned his bachelor’s degree at Longwood University, Master of Arts at Liberty University, and Doctor of Philosophy from Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
“Dan is bringing with him a comprehensive background in higher education and fresh ideas, and a balance between experience and innovative thinking that is critical in this role ” stated Kirk Peterson, President of Chowan University. “In addition to his background and relatability to our students, his leadership style will empower the admissions team to navigate the complex process of recruiting students who are the right fit for Chowan.”
Wilson who is a proud Division I basketball player noted, “I am also proud of my story and how I got from where I use to be to where I am now. I am currently finishing a book that I am writing titled “1.3 to Ph.D.: The Story of my Academic Journey” of how I barely graduated high school with a 1.3 GPA but eventually obtained my Ph.D. I believe in the scripture that says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose," Romans 8:28. I am proud of my testimony and will share it with many students to let them know that sometimes in life, it doesn't matter how you start, but how you finish.”
Wilson and his wife, Whitney, and are blessed with three children, Daniel Jr, (7) Gabriel (6), and Esriel (1.5). They currently reside in Winterville, North Carolina.
Please join Chowan University in congratulating Dan Wilson on his appointment as Vice President for Enrollment Management.
