Chowan Hosts 2020 Share the Well Week
Chowan University’s Campus Ministry hosted the 2020 Share the Well event from February 11th until 15th. The event kicked off on Tuesday the 11th with Elaine and Stephen Haber, International Mission Board Career Missionaries, as guest speakers in an intimate forum presentation in Marks Hall 203 at 4 pm. On Wednesday, February 12th, Amena Brown led a Spoken Word Workshop in Vaughan Auditorium at 5 pm that was followed by a Spoken Word Open Mic session in Turner Auditorium at 8 pm. February 13th developed servant hearts as volunteers packed meals for Riverview Elementary students in the Jenkins Center through the Backpack Buddies program. Valentine’s Day put spreading love through the sharing of faith and testimonials center stage. Saturday, February 15th wrapped up Share the Well week with the Black History Month Program led by guest speaker Rear Admiral Dr. Barry C. Black from the Sycamore Hill Ministry Baptist Church in Greenville, NC.
New Associate Minister to the University, Amber Simpson, commented that “Share the Well week is about participating in many opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ. It is about finding your own way to tell your story that brings glory to God.” The event was Biblically rooted in John chapter four where Jesus’s encounter with a Samaritan woman leads to her spreading the Gospel. The chapter essentially demonstrates the message that anyone can be on a mission for Christ. Share the Well week provided students opportunities to advance the Gospel through spoken word, service, and connecting with missions.
