Chowan Announces New Academic Programs
Chowan University is pleased to announce the addition of three new academic programs to its offerings, starting fall 2020: E-commerce, Educational Studies, and Business and Design.
A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in E-commerce prepares graduates for several jobs that are projected to grow over the next eight years. The Program combines elements of information systems, marketing, and management to equip the students with the skills needed to be successful in E-commerce.
A Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies is a flexible program that allows students to participate in and learn from education courses as well as exploring other interests. A non-licensure program with an emphasis on education and liberal arts courses, students have the option of taking coursework in mathematics, science, social studies, English, and humanities. The program offers students the opportunity to pursue careers related to education that do not require teacher licensure and to attend graduate school, to include obtaining licensure through a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
A Bachelor of Science in Business and Design allows students to integrate design courses with the theory and practice of management. Career opportunities include working on the business side of creative companies and on the design side of any company.
These new additions join more than fifty B.A. and B.S. programs. To increase its associate degree offerings, Chowan is adding eight programs in fall 2020: Criminal Justice, Recreation, Pre-nursing, General Studies, Social Sciences, Psychology, and Business.
In 2020, Chowan will submit a proposal to its regional accreditor (SACSCOC) to offer a Master of Organizational Leadership, a Master of Arts in Teaching (Elementary/Secondary), and a Bachelor in Mass Communication with a Sports Media concentration. Pending approval from SACSCOC, the University will offer its first classes in these three programs in 2021.
