Theatre@Chowan presents glowing drama Aura
Theatre@Chowan will present three performances of Tommy Lee Johnston’s glowing drama, Aura, on November 22, 23, and 24, 2019.
Aura depicts the story of an eccentric man named Mike. Mike has the ability to see the color auras that surround others. Instantly, he can see their vitality or their imminent death. With his own death looming on the horizon, Mike finds himself drawn to Amanda, a young woman who will die in a tragic plane crash; Earl, a recently widowed senior citizen, who is unable to move beyond the loss of his wife; and to Dr. Emily Wallace, a psychotherapist, through whose efforts to help Mike, is helped herself.
Aura affirms our innate drive to find connection, trust, love, and, ultimately, to live a life that matters.
The 4-member cast is comprised of Chowan University students: Joshua Bryant (Senior; Goldsboro, NC), Breauna Johnson (Junior; Charlotte, NC), Jeremiah Cook (Senior; New Carrollton, MD), and Kaylah James-Jones (Junior; Roanoke Rapids, NC).
Steven Harders, Professor of Speech & Drama at Chowan, directs the production.
Performances are Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23 at 7 pm, and Sunday, November 24 at 2:30 pm. Performances take place in Turner Auditorium in the McDowell Columns Building on the Chowan University campus. Tickets: $3 donation. All funds raised will benefit PAWS of Hertford County, Bringing hearts together to provide animal welfare and security.
