Author Lance Jenkins ’09 Returns to Chowan for a Book Talk on October 16, 2019 in Whitaker Library
On October 16, 2019, 2009 Chowan alumni Bradford Lance Jenkins will return to Whitaker Library in celebration of his newly published book A New Requiem. The Jackson, NC native graduated from Chowan University with a B.S. in History, and is employed as the manager of an insurance agency. Jenkins once served on the Chowan Board of Visitors and was recognized as Chowan’s Young Alumnus Award recipient in October 2014. He now lives with his fiance Courtney, and her two children Avett and Kynlee, in the greater NC Piedmont Triad area.
Jenkins has already attended book signing events in Northampton County where old neighbors, friends, and influencers came out to congratulate the new author on his success. So far, the response reaching Jenkins’s ear has been nothing but praise. His book, a work of literary fiction encompassing notes of drama, romance, and suspense is a proclaimed page turner.
Jenkins’s desire to compose A New Requiem dates back to 2015, but early writers- block delayed his progress until 2017. When Jenkins was able to shift his vision from simply authoring a book to sharing an important story, inspiration flowed unceasingly and propelled him to complete A New Requiem in about seven months. The novel’s theme centers around empathy and compassion for all people and their situations that seem difficult to understand. Jenkins gleaned inspiration from his personal experiences and relationships to write this fictional masterpiece.
Chowan University welcomes Jenkins with open arms and is honored to host a book talk and signing featuring A New Requiem and its esteemed author. The event will take place in Whitaker Library on October, 16, 2019, at 11:00am. Please join Chowan University in congratulating Bradford Lance Jenkins on officially becoming a published author and the recent release of his first book A New Requiem.
