Lanier Named Conference Co-Player Of The Year
Marquise Lanier of the Chowan Baseball team capped off his senior season being named the 2019 Conference Carolinas Co-Player of the Year announced by the league on Thursday evening.
Lanier, a senior from Warsaw, Va., is the first Chowan baseball player in program history to earn Conference Carolinas Player of the Year honors. Lanier finished second in the league with a .407 batting average with 13 doubles, 15 home runs, 44 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. Lanier was also named to the First Team All-Conference.
The senior outfielder is the second Chowan baseball player to earn league Player of the Year honors. Lanier joins Justin Bagbey, who won the 2010 CIAA Player of the Year and posted similar numbers. Lanier posted higher numbers in home runs and doubles, while Bagbey posted higher numbers in batting average (.463) and RBI (47).
