Dr. Gilliam to hold Book Talk on new Publication
At 3pm on February 21, 2018, in the upper level of Whitaker Library on the Chowan University campus, community members, students, faculty, and staff are invited to a book talk by Dr. Paul R. Gilliam III (Trey) discussing his new publication, Ignatius of Antioch and the Arian Controversy. The talk will last for up to 20 minutes, followed by a question and answer session.
Dr. Gilliam is an Associate Professor of Religion at Chowan University. He teaches courses on Baptist Life and Thought, History of Christianity, World Religions, Islam, Understanding the Bible, Christianity in the Roman Empire, and Topics in the History of Christianity: Arian Controversy, Tertullian, Constantine.
Dr. Gilliam began his education at Gardner-Webb University, receiving his Bachelor of Arts. He went on to earn his Master of Divinity from Gardner-Webb University, and a Master of Arts from University of North Carolina, Charlotte. While working on his second master’s degree at University of North Carolina, Dr. Gilliam decided to pursue his PhD. He was encouraged to seek out programs with professors whose scholarship overlapped with his interest, which led him to study at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland where he earned his PhD.
