HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half:
The Hawks were aggressive to start the match as Chowan earned two corner kicks. Shannon Park found herself on the end of one of the corner kicks but the shot was blocked.
Chowan continued to pressure the Shaw defense in the ninth minute as Sabrina Henderson worked up the right side of the box. Henderson slid a ball in front of goal, where Carolina Lucci redirected the pass with a back heel flick finding the far post for the 1-0 lead.
In the 20', Rebekah Langley had her initial shot blocked before her second attempt found the back of the net to give the Hawks a 2-0 advantage.
The Blue and White maintained possession throughout the remainder of the half without taking another shot.
2nd Half:
Early in the second half, Chowan had two good looks at the goal as Sabrina Henderson and Hope Kohl's shots were saved by the Shaw keeper.
Possession bounced back-and-forth around the midfield until the 80' as the Hawks pushed forward. Carolina Lucci was pulled down in the box warranting a penalty kick. Lucci would convert the penalty kick despite the Shaw keeper choosing correctly. Lucci's attempt would sneak pass the keeper diving to her left for a 3-0 lead.
The Hawks emptied their bench for the remaining 10 minutes of action.
