INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Four different Hawks scored in the contest as Carolinas Lucci paced the offense with two goals.

Twins, Sydney Henderson and Sabrina Henderson, tallied their first collegiate goals in the contest.

Sierra Gonzalez rounded out the scoring with a goal.

Karissa Grooms and Mackenzie Imamura tallied assists in the contest.

Reigning Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, Olivia Borer, picked up her second consecutive shutout posting two saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st Half

Chowan attacked early and often in the contest as Stephanie Quintanilla took the first shot for the Hawks but was saved by Emmanuel.  Less than a minute later, Karissa Grooms played a through ball up the middle of the field finding the foot of Carolina Lucci who finished the strike from the left wing near post giving the Hawks the 1-0 lead.

The Hawks continued to attack in the opening half recording 10 shots and forcing Emmanuel to play defense as the Lions' keeper tallied five saves in the half.

2nd Half

Chowan added to their lead quickly in the second half pushing their advantage to 4-0 just eight minutes into the half.

Sydney Henderson dribbled around the defense at the top of the box in the 48' as she found the back of the net on the right wing sending the shot far post.

Carolina Lucci tacked on her second goal of the match as Mackenzie Imamura guided a through ball up to Lucci for the far post score.

Sabrina Henderson worked herself into the box on the right side and was pulled down inside the box and was granted a penalty kick for the Hawks.  Henderson placed the shot into the left post for the goal.

The Hawks used fresh legs in the later stages of the match as Coach Chris White emptied his bench.  Sierra Gonzalez received the ball near midfield and found herself on a breakaway getting past defenders and finishing the run with a goal near post for the Hawks' final goal of the match.

UP NEXT

Chowan will return to the pitch on Sunday, September 10 as the Hawks will face Lincoln (Pa.) in a non-conference match.  Kick-off is at 12pm.
