Chowan Baseball: Hawks Rally for a 1-1 Day with East Stroudsburg

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO, NC – The Chowan University baseball team moved to 7-9 on the year after a 1-1 day with East Stroudsburg University on Saturday. The Hawks dropped the opening game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 7-3. ESU moved to 6-4 after Saturday's doubleheader. 

ESU's pitching staff held the Hawks to three hits in the first game to help propel them to a 6-2 win. ESU posted six runs through six innings of play before the Hawks answered with single runs in each of their final two at-bats. Will Edwards (0-3) pitched the opening game. He tossed 5.1 innings, giving up eight hits and six earned runs. The lefty also struck out seven Warrior batters. Daniel Whitener pitched the final 1.2 innings of play. He gave up two hits and struck out two batters. 

Connor Arcobasso, Julian Lopez, and Trent Brosdahl accounted for the three hits in game one. 

The Hawks exploded for 12 hits in game two with Marquise Lanier going 3-3 with two runs and two RBI. He got the Hawks an early 2-0 lead with a two-run shot in the bottom of the first inning. Chowan plated a run in the bottom of the 3rd inning and scored four runs off five hits in the 5th inning to help ice the 7-3 win. 

Bailey Lipscomb (1-3) pitched the win. He threw solid innings before Vinny Puma came in to close out the game. Puma struck out four Warrior batters and gave up two runs. 

Arcobasso ended the game at 3-4 with two runs and two RBI. Lopez had a 2-4 plate performance and Aaron Flanagan posted two hits, a run, and an RBI.
