Chowan Men’s Basketball Soars to Win over Livingstone
SALISBURY, NC – The Chowan University men's basketball team soared to a 95-77 win over Livingstone College in CIAA cross-divisional action on Monday night. The Hawks saw five players score double-figures and hit 65% from the field in route to the 18 point win. The Hawks improved to 14-6 overall and 7-4 in the CIAA after the game.
Chowan jumped out early in the game, taking a 44-24 lead into the halftime break. Livingstone posted 53 second half points but the damage done by the Hawks offensively in the first half was too much for them to overcome. Chowan had five players net double-figures with Marco Haskins leading the way with 21 points. Haskins hit 8-11 from the floor, including nailing four of five from beyond the arc. Joe Goodwin added 20 points and was perfect at the foul line, hitting 10 of 10.
For Livingstone, Eric Dortch-Jones scored 17 points and Roger Ray chipped in 14 points. The Blue Bears fall to 8-13 on the year and 5-6 in CIAA play.
Chowan will travel over to Salem International University on Wednesday night for a non-conference match up. They return to CIAA action on Saturday, February 4th, when they travel to Elizabeth City State University for a 4:00pm tip off.
