Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's basketball team picked up a 92-77 win over the Apprentice School on Wednesday evening.  The Hawks move to 4-1 on the season with the victory while the Builders slide to 1-6 on the season with the setback.

Kevin Kuteyi led the effort for the Hawks with 29 points in the victory.  Joe Goodwin added 16 points for the Chowan Blue and White while Jeremy Smith notched 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds (four offensive, seven defensive).  Marco Haskins rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points in the contest.

Zach Johnson led all players in the game with 32 points for Apprentice.  Jalen Warren added 18 points for the Builders with William Wilcox notching 11 points and nine rebounds (one offensive, eight defensive) in the setback.

After a slow start, the Hawks took control of the momentum late in the first half.  With the score knotted 28-28 with 8:07 on the clock, a three-pointer by Haskins followed by baskets by Kuteyi and a jumper by Goodwin handed the Hawks a 35-28 advantage.  A three-pointer by Kuteyi at the 4:01 mark gave Chowan a comfortable 45-34 lead and propelled the Hawks to a commanding 52-41 advantage heading into the halftime break.

Chowan continued to build on the momentum in the second half.  The Hawks led by nine or more points in the remainder of the contest and pulled away by as many as 20 points (82-62) after a free throw by Goodwin at the 5:54 mark before closing out the 92-77 victory.

Chowan returns to action on December 3rd when the Hawks travel to compete against USC-Aiken.  Tip-off is slated for 2pm.
