Hawks Top Fayetteville State 66-61
ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Chowan University women's basketball team picked up a 66-61 win over Fayetteville State University on Friday evening. The Hawks improve to 5-0 on the season with the victory while the Lady Broncos move to 0-5 on the year with the setback.
Danielle Weldon scored 12 points for the Hawks while notching nine rebounds (five offensive, four defensive). Jordan Payne added 10 points and 15 rebounds (seven offensive, eight defensive) while Dhyamond Crenshaw also chipped in 10 points over the course of the contest.
Tajah Clark led all players in the game with 19 points while Kayla Phifer added 13 points and nine rebounds (two offensive, seven defensive) for Fayetteville State.
Fayetteville State held a narrow 14-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Chowan fought to battle back from the early deficit before heading into the halftime break trailing 34-31. The Hawks outscored the Lady Broncos 16-15 in the third quarter and 19-12 in the fourth quarter to take home the 66-61 victory.

The Hawks return to action on November 26th when Chowan takes on Saint Augustine's University. Tip-off is slated for 4pm on the campus of Elizabeth City State University.
