Rogers Joins Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff
MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University athletic department along with Head Men's Basketball Coach Brett Vincent announced the addition of David Rogers to the men's basketball coaching staff. Rogers serves as Assistant Coach.
Rogers noted, "I'm excited about the opportunity to work at Chowan University and to be part of Coach Vincent's staff. Brett is a proven winner everywhere he has been. I would also like to thank Ozzie McFarland and Dr. White for this opportunity".
Vincent added, "We are happy to welcome David to the program. He has successful experience at the NCAA Division II level and understands the process of evaluating talent. David will be an asset to the Chowan basketball program in many ways".
Rogers spent the 2015-16 athletic season on the women's basketball coaching staff at West Virginia Wesleyan College. The Bobcats compiled a 7-20 overall record with Mari Stewart earning Mountain East First Team Honors.
Prior to his time at West Virginia Wesleyan, Rogers worked as Athletic Coordinator and Coach at Petersburg Middle and High School for the basketball, football, and tennis teams. While at Petersburg, Rogers guided his teams to a combined 35-5 overall record including six conference championships (tennis (3) basketball (2), and football (1)), three regional tennis championship crowns, and five state tennis tournament appearances. Additionally, Rogers had three tennis student-athletes finish as state runner-up and one individual state champion.
From 2002-2009 Rogers served as Director of Basketball Operations/Video Coordinator at Fairmont State University. He played an integral role on a staff that had nine former players reach the professional ranks in Europe, including All-American Thad McFadden. The Fairmont State men's basketball program earned 139 wins during Rogers' time on staff.
Rogers is native of Petersburg, West Virginia.
