Chowan University President Chris White has completed his next musical endeavor, Love Divine, the latest CDfull of his unique piano interpretations of familiar hymns and gospel songs. The thirteenth CD in his growing collection, Love Divine is composed as “easy listening” music with selections designed to ease the tensions of a stressful day and give encouragement to living the Christian life.

Dedicated to his wife of 50 years, Linda Fleming White, and to the Board of Trustees of Chowan University, Love Divine was recorded on the Steinway Grand Piano in the sanctuary of the Murfreesboro Baptist Church. Dr. White’s CDs add to the university’s status as a quality institution based on Christian values, and all proceeds are given to the Chowan Christian Service Association for ministerial student scholarships and student mission trips.

The response to Dr. White’s earlier CDs of inspirational melodies has been gratifying. He has been performing these timeless hymns in churches across the region since he was a boy in Hartwell, GA. These soul stirring performances reveal a deep commitment to these classic songs – respectful of their roots, but made fresh and compelling by his remarkable piano style.

To develop the theme of Love Divine, the CD is filled with twenty-two tracks from beloved gospel favorites from years past like “God So Loved the World” and “Room at the Cross”, to stirring spirituals like “Give Me Jesus”, and to more contemporary songs like “Majesty” and “Mary Did you Know?”. As a whole, the CD is designed to be easy listening, relaxing and an encouragement for private devotion and reflection.
