Alston Receives Service Award
On Saturday, October 11th, Dr. Michael C. Alston received the Community Service Award during the Alumni and Friends Luncheon at Chowan University. The Community Service Award is bestowed each year on a local community leader who has truly excelled in his or her chosen profession; has made a significant contribution to our society through his or her work or volunteer efforts; or who has in some way brought honor to Chowan University or assisted the University in its mission of furthering Christian higher education.
“When you consider all of Dr. Alston’s accomplishments,” remarked Chowan’s Director of Alumni Relations Kay Thomas, “the impact he has made and is making in today’s society becomes abundantly clear.”
Dr. Michael C. Alston is a native of Ahoskie and a graduate from the UNC School of Medicine. He is board certified in family medicine and is a fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has been a member of the medical staff at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital since 1981 and currently practices at the Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center in Murfreesboro. Dr. Alston has also offered his expertise in the form of two medical mission trips to Costa Rica.
