Toyota Initiative Gifts Prius to Chowan
In its fifth year now, the Toyota Green Initiative has partnered with twenty-two schools around the country to promote its environmental stewardship platform. As one of the few recipients selected for this program, Chowan University was given the use of a Prius hatchback wrapped in bold, eye-catching graphics from Toyota of Elizabeth City.
“Five years ago, Toyota started the Green Initiative to educate campuses on going green and creating a sustainable lifestyle,” remarked John Ridgeway, Corporate Manager for Customer Services with Toyota’s Financial Services. “We are continuously improving services with Green Initiative panel discussions, celebrity seminars, and other programs. This year, we expanded the program to share twenty-two Priuses to some of our partnering schools.”
Aimed at educating the students on each campus, primarily through the vivid and informative graphics that line the vehicle, the Prius will make an environmental and financial impact, citing a fifty mile per gallon average. The economic advantage will certainly benefit the athletic, admissions and alumni areas of the university that tend to drive the most and farthest away.
