Tre Brosdahl reached base via a hit by pitch and was pushed to second on a Harry Markotay walk. A fielder's choice put runner's on the corners with two outs. Aaron Flanagan drew a walk to load the bases but would be stranded after a line out to end the inning.
St. Augustine's tied things in the bottom of the fourth on a Hawk miscue. After a one-out single, an error kept the inning alive for the Falcons with the next batter brining home the tying run on a single to center.
The later innings did not produce anything for either side as the doubleheader went into extra innings.
Chowan capitalized on the Falcon pitching change in the top of the ninth. Harry Markotay drew a walk to start the rally. A single by Julian Lopez but the runner in scoring position with no outs. Markotay and Lopez moved up 90 feet on the passed ball before Aaron Flanagan doubled through the left side to give the Hawks a 3-1 advantage. Tyler Jones widened the lead with a single to push things to 4-1 heading into the bottom half of the inning.
After two walks and a wild pitch to start the inning, the contest was suspended and resumed on May 1st.
Zack Cooper pitched in relief following the resumption of the contest leading 4-1 and runners on second and third. Cooper pitched out of the jam with only one run scoring after producing the first two outs of the inning on ground balls. Cooper finished off the inning with a strikeout.
