About the Chowan Salon Lecture Series
Once a month the Chowan Salon Lecture Series features a Chowan faculty member as they present a 30-45 minute lecture about a topic in their area of expertise. These free events are lively as well as educational and are open to the entire Chowan family of faculty, students, administrators, and staff, as well as the greater community of Murfreeesboro and Hertford County. The name comes from the French tradition: (noun) – Salon, from the French word salon (a living room or parlor), means a conversational gathering. Usually this is a select group of intellectuals, artists and politicians who meet together to discuss their work and new ideas. As such, each program is somewhat informal– a way to talk about interesting ideas after the "regular work" of teaching classes and other university work is done.
