Chowan University Recognizes Winners of the 51st Annual Student Art and Design Exhibition
On March 5, 2021, Chowan University’s Department of Communication Arts announced the award winners for the 51st Annual Student Art and Design Exhibition. A virtual slideshow was sent to the Chowan community via email as well as posted on University social media platforms and the ArtsatCU.com website.
The following is a list of the 2020- 2021 place winners: Chris Whaley won the President’s Award and First Prize of $150.00 for his digitally rendered image “Lighthouse in the Clouds”, Charles Kearse was awarded Second Prize and $75.00 for his digitally rendered image “Delusional Fantasy”, Mitch Bess’s Untitled Graphite piece secured Third Prize and $50.00, and Kyra Cauthen won the Provost Award and $50.00 for her digitally rendered image “Mother Nature”.
The following Honorable Mentions were recognized and awarded with $25.00 each for their notable submissions: Mich Bess’s second untitled charcoal piece, Kyra Cauthen’s digitally rendered “Mother Nature”, Tristin Mathis’s charcoal image “Cow Skull’, and Otis Hunter Jr.’s acrylic painting “Tiger Lily Stripes”.
