I choose Chowan University because I feel like I have a responsibility to help young scholars find a place that they can call home while getting an education. Chowan is a place that believed in me and I know will believe in you. We are family here and we want you to be a part of that.
Advice from Whitney: As a scholar that is getting ready to embark on a remarkable journey, you will face many challenges and difficult decisions. As your Admission Counselor, along with the Chowan family, we will be here for you. There will always be a time in life where it might look like you are not going to make it and the journey is just too hard, but the thing to remember is that you can’t quit. You can be whoever you want to be if you put your mind to it.
Favorite spot on campus: My favorite spot was in Daniel Hall, the music recital room. In this room, I met so many individuals that today I call my brothers and sisters. Being involved on campus I was a part of the Instruments of Praise Gospel Choir. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we would get together and sing praise to God and fellowship.
Favorite college memory: Every day in college was something different and something new. There were so many days filled with laughter and fun, and most importantly hard work. I was fortunate to meet so many people that have touched me and helped me to be the person that I am today. Having my professors and staff members cheer and motivate me to the end stood out the most.
Favorite Chowan memory: One experience that I will never forget was having the opportunity to be a part of a mission team that went to Washington, DC and served the homeless for a week. I learned and took so much from that experience. I have so many loving and caring memories from my experiences here at Chowan that will forever be in my heart.
