Kayla Robins named D2CCA All-American
MURFREESBORO, N.C.- The Division II Conference Commissioner's Association announced on Wednesday, May 24 their Division II All-Americans for the 2017 season. Kayla Robins pitched her way to Third Team All-American Status.
Senior, Kayla Robins, was selected as a Third Team All-American after a stellar final season with the Blue and White. During her senior season, Robins posted a 24-10 overall record in the circle with a program's best 0.95 ERA. The Mathews County, Va. native tossed 213.1 innings with 31 complete games, 16 shutouts and 367 strikeouts.
Robins' 0.95 ERA ranks third in the NCAA Division II this season, along with her 367 strikeouts (3rd), shutouts (t-1st), and leads the nation in strikeouts per seven innings with a 12.0 clip.
Kayla contributed at the plate as well hitting .253 in 83 at-bats with two home runs and 15 RBI.
Robins becomes the first Chowan Softball player to be named an All-American in Division II history and only the second softball player in program history to receive the honor.
