Alumni Relations

From the Director

Dear Alumni,

Graduation is always a special time at Chowan.  This year’s commencements were exceptional!  The Class of 2020’s commencement was held on May 8 and the Class of 2021 graduated on May 9.  The ceremonies took place at Garrison Stadium and were both well attended with excellent addresses by the graduates.

Our newly elected Alumni Council President, Maurice Fluitt (Class of 2009), addressed the graduates and encouraged them to participate in the Alumni Association and to stay in touch.  He also recognized graduates who made their first gift to Chowan through the Blue Cord program.

With the summer upon us and most pandemic restrictions behind us, it is an excellent time to make plans to return to your alma mater.  Here are some ways to enhance your alumni experience:

· Be informed and read our alumni magazine, The Chowanoka, for happenings on campus, fellow alumni, and events.

· Return to campus with your peers and attend programs, events, and career-related resources.  I am always pleased to give you and your family a personal tour.

· Remain involved by volunteering on the Chowan Alumni Council or with the young alumni organization, the Talon Club.

Interact with us on social media:  Chowan University Alumni and Supporters Facebook page and Instagram

Best regards,

Kay Thomas

Gallery of Distinguished Alumni

Since 1848, Chowan University has educated thousands of young people from all parts of the globe. Many of these graduates have gone on to distinguish themselves in their chosen careers and in service to their communities.

In addition to being featured online, The Distinguished Gallery of Graduates is located on the ground floor of the historic McDowell Columns Building at the heart of the Chowan University campus. This display recognizes those graduates who have set the standard for all Chowan alumni. We are honored to recognize them for their outstanding accomplishments.
