Alumni Relations

A message from the Director

Best wishes for a healthy, happy new year.  As I glance through the 2016 calendar, I note many exciting events for Chowan alumni this spring.

Dedication of the Bob Burke Court

All alumni are encouraged to attend the Chowan vs Virginia Union University basketball game on Saturday, January 30 at 4:00 p.m.  During the half-time, the basketball court will be named in honor of former Coach Bob Burke.  I know that you will all wish to be present to congratulate Chowan’s legendary Coach, Bob Burke.

1970s Decade Reunion

A special day on the Chowan campus is certain to be Saturday, April 9.  A reunion will take place for Chowan classes 1970-79.  If you graduated during the 70s, please contact your classmates and make plans to attend.

The day will begin with a reception at the Early-Myers Development House (208 High Street, Murfreesboro), hosted by President and Mrs. Chris White.  Following the reception, we will gather at the Helms Center for a delicious lunch, a journey down memory lane, a time of fellowship and a mini-concert by Jackie Gore, founder of The Embers.  Mr. Gore is known as “The King of Beach Music.”

Alumni Council

Your Alumni Council meets each semester and does a tremendous job planning special events for Chowan alumni.  I encourage you to visit the Chowan campus at any time and note the many updates to the beautiful campus.

If you have questions, please contact me at (link sends e-mail) or call 252-398-6436. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Warmest regards, Kay Thomas

We’re bringing the 70s back!

So . . . Grab your love beads, your old forty-fives, and dust off your bell bottoms.

Join us to renew old friendships and share memories with your former Chowan classmates from 1970-79.

Gallery of Distinguished Alumni

Since 1848, Chowan University has educated thousands of young people from all parts of the globe. Many of these graduates have gone on to distinguish themselves in their chosen careers and in service to their communities.

In addition to being featured online, The Distinguished Gallery of Graduates is located on the ground floor of the historic McDowell Columns Building at the heart of the Chowan University campus. This display recognizes those graduates who have set the standard for all Chowan alumni. We are honored to recognize them for their outstanding accomplishments.
