Giving Day Challenges

Giving Day | April 15 at 8:48 a.m. – April 16 at 3:36 p.m. (All 1,848 Minutes)

The Athletic Drive Showdown is an exciting, high-energy challenge taking place during Giving Day at Chowan University. Over the course of all 1,848 minutes, every varsity athletic team will compete for the top spot in this friendly fundraising competition.

During the challenge window, supporters can designate their gift to the varsity team of their choice through the Athletic Drive. The team that raises the most dollars by 3:36 p.m. on April 16 will be crowned the Athletic Drive Showdown Champion.

As an added incentive, the winning team will receive free team gear—giving our student-athletes not only bragging rights, but also a tangible reward for rallying their community.

Join the showdown, support your team, and help power Chowan Athletics to victory!

Unlock the $100,000 Match

The Pathways to the Future Challenge is a powerful Giving Day initiative at Chowan University designed to bring our community together in support of the University’s long-term vision.

When 200 donors make a gift during the challenge window, a transformative $100,000 match will be unlocked—amplifying the collective impact of our community.

This challenge focuses on donor participation because every gift matters. Whether large or small, each contribution represents shared ownership in Chowan’s future. By emphasizing donor count, we highlight that progress is fueled not by one individual, but by a united community committed to moving the University forward.

As we continue advancing the campus Master Plan and investing in the student experience, this message remains at the heart of the challenge:

“The Master Plan moves forward when our community moves together.”

Be one of the 200. Help unlock the match. Shape the future.

During Giving Day at Chowan University, supporters across the country are invited to help Paint the Map Blue through an exciting, high-impact fundraising challenge. Running the full 1,848 minutes, this initiative spotlights the collective financial strength and pride of the Chowan community.

A live U.S. map will track total dollars raised in real time by ZIP code. As gifts are made, each donor’s ZIP code will turn blue, visually demonstrating where support is strongest and momentum is building. This competition is focused on total dollars raised per ZIP code. The ZIP code that generates the highest overall giving by the end of the 1,848 minutes will earn special recognition, including a VIP event hosted in the winning area.

By centering on dollars raised regionally, the Chowan Fund Focus inspires communities to rally together, activate local pride, and amplify their collective impact. Every gift strengthens the University’s mission, proving that when communities unite, extraordinary momentum follows.

Together, we’ll paint the map blue, one ZIP code at a time.

Start your day by making a difference on April 15. During our Giving Day challenge, every gift made between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM comes with a special thank-you: a beautiful watercolor poster of the iconic McDowell Columns building.

This limited-time opportunity is our way of celebrating your generosity and the place that means so much to our community. Whether you’re giving in honor of your time on campus or supporting the next generation, your early contribution helps build momentum for the day ahead.

The Criminal Justice program at Chowan University, one of the most popular on campus, is seeking funding for a state-of-the-art Milo firearms simulator to enhance hands-on learning and better prepare students for diverse careers in law enforcement, legal fields, and public safety. Integrated into upper-level coursework, the simulator would provide immersive, real-world scenarios that build critical skills like communication, decision-making, and situational awareness, bridging the gap between theory and practice while meeting growing industry and accreditation expectations. This investment would strengthen recruitment and retention, position Chowan as a leader in experiential education, and benefit more than 50 students annually, while also serving the broader community, particularly the Murfreesboro Police Department, which currently lacks such a resource. Additionally, the simulator would support potential partnerships for BLET certification, allowing graduates to enter the workforce fully prepared.
