Chowan University embraces a variety of cultures from around the world. Our students currently represent: Belarus, Brazil, British Columbia, British Virgin Islands, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Guatemala, Palestine, Puerto Rico, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom. For Financial Aid purposes, if a student has a valid US social security number and Alien Registration Card, then the student is an “Eligible Non-Citizen” and can apply for financial aid using the FAFSA. If the student does not meet the above criteria, they are considered an International Student.
Chowan Grants & Scholarships
Chowan offers merit based aid to all students, including international students. Some students may also be eligible for Athletic Scholarships in certain areas. Please visit Athletics for more information.
Some lending companies will allow an International Student to apply for a loan to help fund their education. The majority of lending companies require the student to have a US citizen as a co-signer. Students may compare our private lenders online at www.elmselect.com. Chowan University does not endorse any particular lender, and you are free to choose a lender that is not listed. Please borrow conservatively.
We recommend these lenders based on the quality of products and services they provide to Chowan University students and families. We have carefully considered our selections in order to provide you with the best possible list of suggested lenders. However, if you wish to use another lender that is not on this list, you have the right to do so.
