Protein Science Workshop

Protein Science Workshop

February 27, 2023, at 1 pm

There is currently a lack of resources for high school students interested in understanding proteins, which are one of the essential biological molecules needed for the body to function properly. Students interested in entering this field would benefit from this workshop which will provide motivated high school students with the background of proteins, the relationship between protein structure and function, and hands on experience through searching for interesting proteins using the protein data bank to help foster their interest in proteins. The aim of initiating this workshop is to encourage students to pursue their future careers in this area, thus stimulating growth in the protein science community.

The presentation will be given by Dr. Kyung-Hoon Lee, Principal Investigator for the Protein Society Grant. Dr. Lee will give the students a lecture regarding proteins and their related structures and functions. The lab activity related to protein science will be conducted in a computer lab.
