Welcome to the Department of Graphic Design at Chowan University. We offer the following degrees: a B.S. in Graphic Design and a B.S. in Business & Design, as well as a minor in graphic design. Graphic design students graduate prepared to enter and gainfully contribute to a variety of communication-related fields that may combine various media, art, and technology in order to create visual storytelling. These fields include but are not limited to graphic design, marketing, and print and related media. Our talented faculty members bring real-world experience to the classroom, further expanding the student’s learning experience. In alignment with the University’s new emphasis on life skills, students can gain their own real-world, hands-on, work experience through internship opportunities hosted by the department in partnership with other on-campus offices, as well as outside companies. Both graphic design programs require students to be highly engaged and involved in their learning. Most concepts are learned and perfected by completing projects – allowing students to not only gain required skills but fine-tune them to later direct career decisions. Students who enjoy hands-on, applied, experiential learning should strongly consider the programs offered within the Department of Graphic Design.
