In their free time, many education students elect to join the Student North Carolina Association of Educators (SNCAE) Club. Membership is open to all education majors who share a passion for education and service. Members of this service-oriented club have, among other activities:
Participated in the Relay for Life Event held on Chowan’s campus.
Organized a table of activities and prizes for the Harvest Festival.
Read in the local schools for “Read Across America” Day.
Sponsored a Spaghetti Dinner and Turkey BBQ sandwich fundraisers.

As students advance in their teacher education studies, they gain opportunity for membership into honor societies. On the Chowan University campus is the Alpha Epsilon Lambda chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. This honor society is available to all teacher education students who meet the membership requirements:
Minimum 3.0 GPA.
At least 30 credit hours earned at Chowan University.
At least 12 of those credit hours earned at Chowan University must be Education credits.
The Alpha Epsilon Lambda chapter of Kappa Delta Pi was chartered in the spring of 2009. The organization has taken part in the following events among others:
