- Every student is assigned an academic advisor upon acceptance to Chowan.
- If you attend SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration), you may receive a temporary advisor.
- If you have declared a major, you will typically be assigned an advisor within that department.
- Your advisor helps guide your academic and career path.
- They provide insight, course recommendations, and solutions for academic challenges.
- They assist with registration, major changes, and long-term planning.
- Required: Once per session for pre-registration.
- Recommended: 2–4 times per session for academic planning and support.
Yes! If you’d like to switch advisors:
- If you have a declared major, talk to your Department Chair about changing advisors.
- If you are undeclared, consult your current advisor for guidance.
