From Hawks to Hires: Six Chowan Graduates Join the University Team
Chowan University is proud to have six recent graduates join full-time staff across campus, underscoring the next generation of Hawk Pride and Chowan’s strong classroom-to-career pipeline.
“Welcoming our own graduates to the Chowan team is a powerful testament to the quality of a Chowan education,” said Dr. Rosemary Thomas, President of Chowan University. “These new professionals bring talent, heart, and a deep understanding of our mission—ready to serve students on day one.”
The new hires span key student-facing and operational areas: Admissions, Student Success, Athletics, and Development.
Abigail Conboy ’25 — Enrollment Advisor, Office of Admissions, since August 2025.
B.S. in History, B.S. in Psychology.
Abigail recruits and guides prospective students around Raleigh-Durham and surrounding counties—building school/community partnerships, and counseling families from first contact through enrollment.
Elizabeth Heller ’25 — Development Coordinator, University Relations, since May 2025.
B.S. in Business Administration, Concentration Information Systems, Minor in Business Management.
Elizabeth oversees annual giving campaigns, alumni engagement initiatives, and signature events—from Brave Hawks’ game-day hospitality to Homecoming celebrations.
Kayleigh Lance ‘25 — Enrollment Advisor, Office of Admissions, since January 2025.
B.S. in Sports Management.
Kayleigh recruits throughout Hampton Roads, Virginia, and guides prospective students through the enrollment process while coordinating their campus visit experiences.
Da’Veion Pittman ’25 — Enrollment Advisor, Office of Admissions, since June 2025.
B.S. in Business Administration, Concentration in Management, Minor in Marketing.
Da’Veion travels throughout Piedmont Virginia, Northern Virginia, and Maryland representing Chowan at schools, college fairs, and community events.
Kayleigh Roberts ‘25 – Registrar Coordinator, Office of the Registrar, since June 2025.
B.S. in Graphic Design and Studio Arts.
Kayleigh coordinates registration and student records—handling scheduling, transcripts, degree audits, and front-line support for students and faculty.
Kashara Simpson ‘24 & ‘25 — Director of Athletic Communications, since August 2025.
B.S. in Exercise Science, Minor in Psychology. M.A. in Organizational Leadership.
Kashara leads external communications for Chowan Athletics across social, email, and web; produces photo/video, stats, and live streams to elevate game days; advises SAAC and helps plan athletics events.
Distinguished by internships, campus leadership, and service, these graduates understand our students, culture, and standards—and are ready to make an immediate impact. They bring proven experience, strong work ethic, and a student-first mindset to their new roles. With this foundation, they are well prepared to contribute from day one and help advance Chowan’s mission.
