
Chowan Places 8th; Buchholtz Earns Elite 23 Award
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Chowan University men’s golf team concluded play at the Conference Carolinas Men’s Golf Championship on Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up their final round of the tournament.
During the award ceremony, Chowan’s Mika Buchholtz was honored with the Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Award, which recognizes the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average at the championship site.
The Hawks finished the tournament in 8th place, steadily climbing the leaderboard by one spot each day. They posted a three-round total of 907 (+43), with their strongest performance coming in the final round, carding a 295 (+7). Chowan finished just behind Emmanuel and King, who tied for 6th with a score of 904 (+40).

INSIDE THE SCORE CARDS
Matthew Herberger led the Hawks throughout the three-day championship, capping the final round with a 73 (+1) to finish in a tie for 16th. Bjoern Holt and Buchholtz also carded solid rounds of 73 (+1), with Holt sitting in a tie for 21st. Tyler Darnell added a 76 (+4) in round three, while Jacob King rounded out the scoring with an 82 (+10).
