Chowan University Welcomes New Team Members Dedicated to Student Success
Chowan University is pleased to welcome three new members to our community. Employees whose first priority is students are a valuable addition to the Chowan family, and Heather Morton, Kaleigh Lance, and Arthur Sutton all share a passion for working with and supporting students.
Heather Morton – Enrollment Advisor, Admissions
Heather Morton joined Chowan University in October as an Enrollment Advisor in Admissions and is fairly new to Murfreesboro. Unlike many who relocate for a job, Heather moved to Murfreesboro for the land and the community before even knowing about or securing a position at Chowan. Now, she enjoys sharing the beauty of Chowan University with prospective students.
Outside of work, Heather embraces country life, spending time with her Nigerian goats and alpacas. Her love for people is contagious, aligning perfectly with her passion for building relationships.
Prior to moving to North Carolina, Heather lived in Michigan, where she worked in Marketing and Fashion Merchandising. She relocated to be closer to family, saying, “Family always gets you.”
Kayleigh Lance – Enrollment Advisor, Admissions
Kayleigh Lance, who recently graduated from Chowan University in December with a B.A. in Sports Management, is the newest Enrollment Advisor on the Admissions team. A transfer student from Virginia Beach, she chose Chowan because she was looking to grow in her faith and get involved in Campus Ministry.
“Chowan helped me grow spiritually, build my character, and provided so much support. When they offered me a job here, I thought, ‘I want other people to experience what I have.’”
Kayleigh enjoys talking to prospective students about Chowan, noting that it’s easy for her to share the experience because she has lived the life they are about to enter.
Shelley Greene, Vice President for Enrollment and Advancement, expressed her excitement about the new additions to the team:
“We’re excited to welcome two new Enrollment Advisors to our team. Their energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to connecting with students are already making a positive impact. They bring fresh perspectives that will help us achieve our enrollment goals and showcase all that Chowan University has to offer.”
Arthur Sutton – Accounts Receivable Coordinator, Business Office
Arthur Sutton commutes from Roanoke Rapids to Chowan, where he serves as an Accounts Receivable Coordinator in the Business Office. A 2023 graduate of Appalachian State University, he earned his degree in Advertising and Communications with a minor in Marketing.
Arthur uses his analytical skills to manage student accounts and incoming payments, but what he enjoys most about his role is interacting with students and helping them navigate their financial responsibilities.
When Arthur isn’t at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Abbey, a Speech-Language Pathologist in Roanoke Rapids, and their two dogs—a Bernedoodle and a St. Bernard mix.
