Chowan football players dream of the big leagues, of playing NFL games. Robert Brown, a notable alumni, was Captain of the nationally ranked Chowan football defense in 1980. Brown’s talent set the stage for his success at Virginia Tech University, where he played in the 1982 Hula Bowl and
Olympia Gold Bowl All-Star Game. His outstanding contributions earned him induction into the Virginia Tech University Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.
Brown’s professional career in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers from 1982 to 1992 solidified his status as a notable alumni in both college and professional football, showcasing how a Chowan University graduate can achieve greatness at the highest levels of the sport.
