
Reverend Craig Janney – Most Notable Alumni
Reverend Craig Janney, a notable alumni of Chowan University, is currently the pastor of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ in Harrisonburg, VA. While earning his BA in Religion at Chowan University, he played on the football team and was actively involved in Christian Service. Several years following graduation, he was honored as the Distinguished Young Alumnus.
In 2007, Reverend Janney earned a Master of Divinity from Gardner-Webb University. Following this accomplishment, he returned to Chowan University as an instructor in Religion and later transitioned into Academic Affairs, where he developed the innovative Student Success Coaching program. Not wishing to abandon his passion for religious service, he also served as Athletic Chaplain, providing spiritual care to student-athletes and coaches.
From 2010–2019, Reverend Janney worked as pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Seaboard, NC, and as Manager of Reference and Referral at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, furthering his mission to support faith communities.
In addition to his pastoral work, this notable alumni is the founder and president of Greenfields Church Consulting, where he offers executive and operational guidance to churches and church leaders.
