Junior Smith and Harry Baker Earn D2CCA Southeast All-Region Honors
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Junior Smith from the Chowan men’s soccer team was named to the 2024 D2CCA Southeast All-Region Men’s Soccer First Team, while Harry Baker earned a spot on the Second Team, both earning recognition for their performances this season.
Conference Carolinas earned 9 total All-Region selections, with 4 players named to the First Team and 5 earning spots on the Second Team.
Junior Smith led Conference Carolinas in goals with 14, adding 3 assists and 31 total points to his season tally. His performances earned him Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year honors and a spot on the First Team All-Conference. Smith’s contributions helped propel the CU men’s soccer team to the Conference Carolinas Championship game, where they fought hard but fell 1-0 to Francis Marion. Along with his goal-scoring prowess, Smith also netted 3 game-winning goals for the Hawks.
A defensive force for the Hawks, junior Harry Baker started in all 17 games this season. Along with his solid defense, Baker contributed offensively adding 4 assists and 10 shots, while playing a role at both ends of the field for Chowan. A First Team All-Conference selection, he was also honored with the Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Award, recognizing his excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
